Sears, Roebuck and Co., a leading U.S. retailer of apparel, home and automotive products and services, has a large, complicated technology infrastructure, which includes over 250,000 technology assets in 5,000 locations. Since their implementation of MC/EMpower, Sears has been able to track detailed information on its technology assets. Access to this information has enabled charge back of expenses by asset to the business units, audit and reconciliation of the cost of services and activities delivered, and improved lease management. Sears has also been able to streamline the requisition and service request processes to attain superior service for end users. Currently, the team is focused on improving component and configuration management through integration with auto-discovery, and the correlation of warranty and maintenance agreements and costs with the associated asset. In the near future, Sears plans to expand its asset management system to help with financial planning and budgeting and management of emerging multi-purpose technology components like pagers, phones and internet devices.
"We were impressed with MC/EMpower's ability to effectively manage the entire IT investment process and provide a complete and accurate picture of all assets, their location, and value. We expect MainControl to be an important partner in our ongoing effort to turn our IT investment into a business advantage."
Susan Ben, Director of Distributed Technology, Sears
